Another sub-forum?

There are so many sub-forums on this forum, it is often difficult to know where to post things, and many a time posts are considered to be in the wrong place and get moved.

I recently posted a Wanna (because I wanted/was looking for something) and it was moved to the home & health sub-forum because a mod considered it to be more appropriate there. This is not a wanted type place but a discussion area, so hardly appropriate as far as I was concerned.

I received ONE response in about 10 days or whatever.

Hope they have plenty of time on their hands to keep track of even more sub-forums!

I so understand where you are coming from. In my experience the behaviour of board guides can be unfathomable. I do understand that they sometimes mean well and move things to where they think you'll get a better response, which may or may not work. Other times they merge threads because there's something similar on a board already. However this can be totally random. I've seen threads like 'I've got half a chicken leg, what can I make for dinner tonight?';) left alone and others which were obviously new threads (and deserved to be) merged. Most posters IMO don't really want to trawl through huge threads but some guides are obsessed with 'tidying up'. The trouble is that because they're volunteers any implied criticism is not taken well, regular posters can be very cliquey and close ranks and the next thing you know you're being told if you don't like it report it as abuse:eek:.

I don't like it and it goes against my idea of fairness but I find it best to just keep my own counsel, keep my head down and stick to the threads I'm happy with. Life's too short.....

Well, perhaps I shouldn't have said anything, but there you go it's done.

I'm not really criticising the mods unduly because on the whole they really do a fine job - I certainly wouldn't have the time/energy to take it on, and the boards would probably be an horrendous mess without them!

Just in this instance perhaps a few sub-forums too far?

Well, we need to wait and see what it's for, but I agree, these seem pointless.

As for mods moving threads, sometimes wish they'd mind their own damn business, I've had a few moved to lesser used forums and been forced to start a thread back where I put it in the first place...why they feel that we'd get better answers in a barely used area is beyond me soemtimes.

  • MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

As this thread has now been moved it is meaningless. Thank you. It only made sense when it was read under the original Forum. Now nobody knows what the dickens I was talking about.

    Oh well.:rotfl:
