Xp Service Pack 2?

I have an update ready for Windows XP Service Pack 2 but am unsure wether to update as I have heard of problems. Anyone know if it's ok to update?

  • I have installed service pack 2 without any problems.

    It has it's own firewall but this is best disabled if like me you already have a firewall and antivirus program.

    If you look HERE there are threads where SP2 has been discussed. You can find all sorts of threads on different techie questions if you look at FAQ's which is a sticky at the top of this board.

  • See this MS article - What to Know Before You Download and Install Windows XP Service Pack 2

    I've installed SP2 on 2 pooters and not had a problem. As the article says, backup your documents and important files, and get Windows up to date with the latest updates BEFORE installing SP2.

    Thanks for bringing this subject up as my Win Update icon has just requested I install SP2 pack too, but I wasn't sure whether to proceed as I've heard dodgy things about it in recent months :eek:
