if i got a loan for 14 weeks from provident and paid it back on time without a problem, would this help build/repair my credit?

If you have a provident loan then basically you must have the worst credit rating known to mankind, build/repair credit rating the answer is NO.
A good way to build a good rating if your credit is trashed is to apply for someone like capital one classic or a Vanquis credit card,keep paying these companies on time and this will defiantly improve your credit rating.
Taking out provident loans is always a downhill spiral..0 -

I was a provident agent, we dont do credit checks, just lend you £50 and see how you repay.I left cos of morals, i didnt like putting folk deeper into debt for laons for gas bills, i told them to fone gas comapny and pay bill over a year interest free.Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )
