Windows Messenger on iphone

Hi, I am trying to work out how to stay logged into Window's messenger on the iphone. Currently what seems to happen is that I log onto it, but as soon as I exit that screen it signs you out and you're no longer online. Is there a way you can stay online all day, I've seen people do this really easily with the BB but can't seem to work it out on the iphone. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you set the Windows Messenger app to allow push notifications, then you will get an alert whenever someone sends you an instant message, even if the app is closed. Check the app settings, and also under the iphones settings>notifications menupoppy100

Thanks poppy10. Under settings Notifications is set to "ON" and in the same area Messenger Sounds, Alerts and Badges are also set to "ON".
However I don't know how to set the Windows Messenger ap to allow push notifications.
Also it doesn't make a sound when I get a new message so I'm not aware that someone has sent me anything. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Some people report that you need to be signed out of WLM on your PC/laptop before it will start sending you push notifications to your iPhone - otherwise it assumes you can just read the message on the computer's WLM.
To get sounds, go to Settings and scroll down through the list of apps until you see "Messenger" - from there you can select it to play a sound and/or vibrate when you get a new message while the app is open.poppy100 -
Thank you...

I am not logged onto the computer when I'm using messenger on my mobile.
I have checked the setting section and under messenger the sound and vibrate button are on but this doesn't work.
Has anyone else experienced this? I might have to call the helpdesk as I've tried all the above but to no avail..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The sound has started to work on messenger now, not sure if you can set the volume for a certain level or if it picks the same volume as text and calls but small progress...
If anyone knows how to stop iphone signing you out of messenger when you switch to another app or the call/text screen i'd really appreciate it. Thank you..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
