Can I do it too?

Throughout my years as a student, I was forever being charged by my bank (Halifax) for going over my overdraft. Can I still reclaim those charges if I am still in the process of paying back the overdraft. Also, what evidence of these charges do I need to provide?
Sorry if this is repeating other threads, but can anyone put me in the know?
Thank you

Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Thank you. I'm just printing off the letter requesting my account information now and I can't wait to send it off. This is also the bank that cancelled my overdraft without warning in the middle of my finals because they 'thought I'd graduated' so it feels like a fitting revenge for all that stress and panic, not to mention a diet of soup for three years because of all the charges.
Hurrah!Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.0 -
I have been a good girl (!) for the last couple of years, and have not incurred any charges. Prior to that, I honestly can't remember if I have been charged or not.
I moved in with my OH 18 months ago, and took charge of all the finances. He used to go overdrawn on his account, but unsure if or how much he was charged.
Typically, we have thrown all bank statements away that date before 2005.
I have been trying to read through all the posts, and if I am correct my first job is to send the Data Protection letter with £10 for each account (is that right?)
Do you think it is worth me giving it a go? Any help would be appreciated.0 -
Why not?
What could you possibly have to lose?
Yes, the first step is the letter and a tenner asking for account information - there's a template one in the stage-by-stage instructions.
Good luck xOnly when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.0 -

I have got the letter ready and cheque written for my OH's account.
Do I need to set him up a new bank account before I send the letter off?
We have a joint account and I have a current account with A&L, his current account is with HSBC at the moment. I know I cannot refer him as a 'friend' as we already have the joint account, but can I set him up a new A7L account via Quidco and get £50?
Is there an account with A&L that sends statements through the post, or is it internet only?
Thanks0 -

Definately! Just to be on the safe side reallty. But I think you already know that!clareski wrote:We have a joint account and I have a current account with A&L, his current account is with HSBC at the moment. I think so, get him to go through quidco and then you guys need to fill in the following form:

If you want the cashback, the OH has sign up for a Premier Direct Current Account or a Premier Current Account which are Internet Only - though statements can be downloaded and for £5 you can get one through the post
. They do have a current account - very originally called Current Account which appears to send postal statements but I can't find anything online on the account. 0 -
Well I have now applied for an A&L Premier Current Account for OH via Quidco, the cheque and letter are on their way to HSBC.
Wish me luck, and watch this space!

I think I might have fallen at the first fence.

I sent the request for data to my local branch - the one that opened the account. Is this wrong? Will they redirect it or will they just ignore it?Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.0 -

I'm dealing with four banks for different people. I've sent every letter to the persons own branch. This has been fine. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
