ARGOS - home delivery issues

We will never ever go to Argos again for home delivery. To cut a long story short, delivery men (x2) wiped greasy hands all over the walls on the stairway when moving a mattress from the van into the house. When they got the mattress upstairs they then proceeded to take PHOTOGRAPHS of the bedrooms!!! They said it was for evidence that the house has small rooms and they had difficulties getting the mattress up the stairs, so would report this to their managers. I will leave it to your imagination as to WHY they were taking photographs, my partner asked them to stop and they refused. I rang Argos today and asked if it was common practice/policy for their drivers to take photos of inside the house (and were found out), they refused to comment. To be continued...
Anyone else who has had similar experiences, please add to this.

Well if they struggled to get the mattress up a tight stairwell then this probably explain why there were handprints on the walls.

The hand prints are almost acceptable, but as for the photographs that's very off. I hope a very strongly worded letter is put into place. Highest up the management ladder you can get to.

I guess the delivery men where just having a laugh, being a little bored. But that doesn't make it right.

If they took pictures of the stairway being tight and the mattress bent, that's understandable, as it's not good practice to bend mattresses. But sometimes that's the only way to get them up and in so to speak.

I suspect we've not heard the full story. Sounds like the OP would have been aware that it would be a tight squeeze to get the mattresses delivered upstairs yet the delivery guys perservered, albeit at a struggle, I think they would have been complaining if the delivery team refused altogether. Anyway, as they were delivering the wife started making noises about damage to walls, furniture etc, perhaps, so the delivery team, probably as instructed in these circumstances, decide to take photos to protect themselves against any future allegations of damage. Not heard of this before, but sounds reasonable nonetheless.

I can't see any reason to take photos of the bedrooms. The only place that would be acceptable to take photos would be the stairs where it was a tight squeeze.

Mattresses can be bent as long as they aren't folded or creased, which will damage the springs. If the mattress wouldn't fit up the stairs without risk of damage, then they shouldnt have tried to get it up the stais, and should have given the customer the various options.

As for the hand prints. All they had to do was to wash their hands before they attempted to get the mattress up the stairs.

Depends what happened when they were trying to get the mattress iknto the bedroom. Again, I feel we're not getting the full story, as it seems pretty ridiculous for anyone to start taking photos for absolutely no reason and without provocation.

True, but I don't think it is acceptable to take photos at all in someones property without their permission.

Come on Tim, wash their hands, you know how fithy dirty matt bags can get!

Wash hands, then 10 seconds later, dirty again from the bag.

Maybe the OP can give us a full and true account of what happened. Both sides of the story so to speak.

Mattress bags only get dirty if the mattresses are stored and transported in dirty warehouses and vehicles. The easy answer is keep them clean, it's not difficult. And the drivers could do as mine do, and carry wipes in the van to clean their hands on. If companies deliver to peoples homes, then they should keep the goods and themselves clean.

I argee but we live in the real world. I doubt Argos delivery drivers give a S*** about keeping their hands clean. Delivering maybe 20-30 drops on a run, by the end of the day I imagine that they just want the job finished.
