Pears Soap

From my youth (a few years ago now) I remember the smell and look of Pears soap. I recently bought a tablet but it's not the same.
The colour is now a yellow/amber rather than being much darker, almost purple or deep maroon. The scent is also much 'lighter' than before.
1. Am I wrong and the colour and scent have not changed?
2. If they have changed, is there anywhere (abroad?) where I could get the original style?

Nice to save.

Hmm I have this in my bathroom (bought for the same reasons it reminds me of my youth) and I haven't noticed any difference0

I'm sure I saw a thread about this on here, but can't find it. But this is interesting:

You're not imagining it! I was reading about it in the paper the other day:

Wrights coal tar is not allowed to have coal tar in it any more. Pity because people with psoriasis (Skin condition) got a lot of relief using it. Must have side effects.0

Apparently it is now made in India. My question is where does the gelatine used in it come from?
As long ago as the 1950s, my father happened to visit the factory in the UK where it used to be made and remarked that the people who worked there hated producing it, for some reason due to the processes involved.
Production was switched to India within the last 15 years, I know that much.0
