am i right in thinking up in scotland that the home information pack is like a survey?
sorry if this is a really stupid question

    so if i was daft enough to buy a house without getting a full survey this would give me protection?

    Protection against what?

    The links above may show you the scope of the Home Report (it's not called a Home Information Pack, so you should probably google Scottish Home Report or similar), so, with the HR likely to be accepted by your lender as a suitable valuation for mortgage purposes, and your knowledge of the scope of the survey, you can decide for yourself whether or not proceeding on the basis of the Home Report would be 'daft' ....
