Advice needed re. insurance claims

Hi Everyone,

Hoping you can help me in regards to my fiance and his car insurance.

This is what has happened in brief.

My fiance returned to the car park where his van was parked after a days work in August to find someone had crashed into him. Huge dent in the rear panel behind the drivers door. No details were left. A few days later he received a letter from LV (same provider) stating one of their customers were claiming for my fiance crashing into him! We could not believe it but bingo we now had their registration plate, so made a counter claim. I dropped my fiance at work the next day so I could see the car and took pictures on my digital camera.

The car then appeared in the car park a few days later fixed.

My fiance had to do all the chasing with the company. He finally spoke to someone at LV and he was told the car in question was a write-off and he was being blamed for it. However the car had been fixed!! We then sent the pictures I had taken proving it had not been caused by my fiance.

After months and months of my fiance trying to contact LV they eventually said that due to the pictures we had sent it was proven that the write off had not been caused by his vehicle. However, they are refusing to repair my fiances van and have stated that both parties will lose no claims bonus. We then sent a letter to LV in November.

Surely this is wrong? The whole point of paying an exorbitant amount of money to insurance companies is so any accidents etc will be dealt with and repaired.

It has now dragged on since August and we are still no further forward. Your help would be much appreciated as we do not know what to do next. A we sent a letter to LV and a copy of the letter was also sent to the FSA, however we have heard nothing.

Please help!!

Kind regards,

Gemma

  • Thanks for your quick reply.

Well his parents paid for the insurance as a gift. It was set up with Swintons, so he initally contacted them, they said that it was a partner company- Liverpool Victoria that the insurance was actually bought with.
  • Any other suggestions as to what we can do??

    Thanks
