Apart from coach you can get the train. Southern, Thamelink and Gatwick express all go to Gatwick. Gatwick Express will be the most expensive (but probably the quickest). Southern and Gatwick Express will go from Victoria, Thameslink will go from Blackfriars and/or London Bridge. Have a look at https://www.nationalrail.co.uk for route information by train.

yeah walking is almost certainly cheapest unless you takeinto account the wear and tear on shoes and refreshments needed along the way in a cost per mile exercise. hence me asking how many of them travelling ;)

might work out cheaper to get a cab.

in addition, out of interest, where in london are you setting out from?

  • Yes - where, how many, what time of day is important.

For example, 4 adults can travel to Gatwick from Central London on ThamesLink for £40rtn and any additional children are £1 each.

  • I am travelling from London Victoria probably and coach is cheapest but what if there are traffic problems, as we need to be there by 8am.

  • Ooh cross-over there.

Traffic should not be too much of a problem as you would be coming from out-of-town in the morning rush so all traffic would be coming in the opposite direction.

What do you mean "by 8:00am". Is that the time checkin closes, the flight takes off or 2 hours before the flight?
  • I need to be there by 8am as the flight leaves at 10pm.
