She had a letter form hbos today saying that they had made a mistake when getting a final settlement 3 years ago
The asked for an amount, she paid it, and then moved house. They then slapped another £25 interest on it without telling
her, didnt try very hard to find her( obviously she thought the debt had been settled.) The debt company found her without
any problem (she only moved half a mile up the road so was still in the same post code area) and said this £25 was now over £100 so she settled it.
Moving on 2 years she found she couldnt get a mortgage becaus of this default, so she complained to hbos about them not trying to find her, and they investigated it and found in her favour. Refunded the payment and gave her compensation too.
and so they have said that the default and anything associated with it will be completely removed within 30 days.
    Really good news.
