Buying someone elses cancelled wedding venue?

Hi,
I'm planning on getting married this year (June/July/September saturday), but struggling for a nice venue (essex) at a reasonable price (80-100day 100-120evening). I had a conversation with a lady in John Lewis who said her friend used a company that sold venue cancellations. It was really cheap and the friend had a brilliant venue and food. Any one heard of such a company?

Sorry I can't help you with the cancellations site nbut my friend has booked the Reid Rooms in Essex for her wedding (her mum and dad went to a wedding there and said it was wonderful). It looks lovely, you can bring your own wine and no corkage charge. They have an advert at the moment saying they have some last min vacancies reduced in March.

seeing as most wedding cancellations happen quite near to the actual date, i doubt you would be able to book a venue now for this summer
i would expect a months notice at the most
had a google and come across a company called whirlwindweddings
seems they deal in this sort of thing
