First post!
I get tax credits as a single working mother. I have a boyfriend who lives a 2 and a half hour and 2 counties away drive from me. I see him probably every other weekend. We have separate lives and completely separate bills........ he has a child who lives with his ex. His ex has to go into hospital next month for an operation and will be unable to look after the child. The child is going to stay with me during the week ie mon - thurs nights for that time and whilst the child is here he will probably stay for 2 or 3 of these nights.
Sorry - its complicated I know!
I am going to phone the tax credit people next wk but am just wondering if anyone has any opinions about the outcome?
If they do class us as living together - he will still have his own place and all own bills - will they count his income for all the year?
Thanks

As far as I'm aware, it's nothing to do with the number of nights. You have separate houses, separate bills etc etc. I don't think there's a single need to bother them with it at all.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

i don't think anyone would class this as living together. if you lived like this every week it'd be different, but youre just doing this short term due to circumstances.0

Agreed
There was a very long and complex thread here where the OP's GF had her benefits stopped because he had moved in more or less full time, despite having a his own place. they were counted as a couple.
Turned out the GF had ODed and he was there to provide temporary support whilst she stabilised so that her child could return to her. It took a bit of time, but the benefits were reinstated.
Now he was there FT for several weeks....If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
