Single/double oven: Hotpoint Openspace or Samsung Dual Cook?

I am planning a partial re-work of my kitchen, and I'm wondering about whether to go for one of the single ovens which can optionally be divided into two independent cooking spaces when required.

Is there any recent experience out there with either the Hotpoint Openspace OS897DIX, which has been around a year or two, or the Samsung Dual Cook models (BQ1S6T077 or BQ2Q7G078) which have similar functionality? On paper there seem to be pros and cons to both, but the strengths are rather different for the two designs.

I'm inclined to prefer the Samsung on specification, but I hesitate to go for it because - good though my experience is with Samsung's consumer electronics generally - they don't as yet have much of a track record with larger kitchen appliances. Hotpoint don't really have the same reputation for quality as, say, Bosch or Neff or Siemens but they are at least a known quantity in this field.

All thoughts welcome! Regards, Alan

  • Just stumbled on your post as I have just ordered the Hotpoint myself . Like you we are renovating our small kitchen and were in two mind over Neff , Samsung and Hotpoint .

In the end the Hotpoint got the hands up as my sister and mother have this brand (not openspace) and has been very happy . Also what swung it for me is that it can be plugged straight into a 13A socket without the need for hardwirng.

Which one did you go for ?
