Just started watching it. Really feel sorry for the genuine sellers who will be doubted now.One day I might be more organised...........

GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I dont. It should make people more aware, and therefore genuine sellers can take the money, instead of the charlatans.
OBviously, they do need to reiterate the "genuine" item in the description. Fakers never do.Be nice0 -
I sell brand named stuff but always genuine and I state that in my listings, hope this isn't going to affect me!!!!

I've got no doubt from what has been said it will effect those who sell genuine goods.
Shocked at the amount they have found, but there is also a lot who buy the items that think they are buying genuine goods.
It's also the trying to find out how to show goods are genuine without the person having them in their hand, I really feel for those genuine sellers trying to prove their items are genuine.
Saying that I am not a label person and the make of a product doesn't interest me. But I do know it's some peoples livelyhoods. One day I might be more organised...........

i saw it too, they actually went to a ebay seller in my area, the lady who wasnt aware she had sold fake bags,
thats why never buy any clothing from the net, id rather get it from the shops, you can see what your buying and you dont need to pay postage costs to return itNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
I think the basic message is: beware of ANYONE on ebay claiming to offer anything approaching the likes of a 'designer' label.
Ebay's bottom line argument basically is: 'we're just a marketplace, hiring out space to stallholders and shoppers... we have no responsibility to anyone for anything but the efficiency of the system'.
Much as though I dislike it, I think they have a point.
The internet is a jungle and jungles have dirty great snakes as well as little furry animals.0 -
I know when I list something like a pair of Nike Trainers I am inundated by chinese wholesalers trying to get me to buy from them, very annoying as they do this in the form of ask a question...when I report this to ebay, I in turn get an ebay communication alert!!!!
I don't entirely agree that if it's seems to good to be true then it probably is....If I'm selling something I know will sell i always start it off at 99p, to keep my costs down and also it sells far better than starting at £25...
Just totally avoid handbags as the thai's do excellent copies0 -
I agree that shoppers should be alerted to these scammers and that eBay should do more to police their own sites/sellers.
But it did make grim listening for people like me who occasionally genuine "names" with provenance and could get branded with the same bad name.Stop looking for answers....
The most you can hope for are clues.....:)0 -

Ebay must bear some responsibility here surely?
The old adage: if it's too good to be true, it is surely applies?0
