Where to Start... I have potentially quite a bit to claim.

Heya everyone.

I really want to claim back my PPI insurance, as both of my creditors have fallen into default, and neither company told me I had them. As well as that, one of the creditors didnt allow me to claim when I moved employment to avoid redundancy.

The first is a £3000 loan with Natwest; and the second is a credit card with Barclaycard. Natwest were the company who refused my claim once I realised I had PPI Insurance.

Has anyone a first template to send to these companies and how much should I get back. Natwest was over 2 years. Barclaycard was a credit limit of £1000; but was cut when I went to Mexico and didnt set up my direct debit. PPI charges were coming out for a further 2 years after.

Any help would be much appriciated. How much do you reckon would be achieveable from these two companies.

  • Did you really make yourself intentionally unemployed and expect the insurance company to pay?

    Hi there

I'm sure the ones who have had experience with these companies will post of their own experience at some point.

The template letter was replaced by reclaiming questionaires on this site, you will find this here as stage one of reclaiming.

You can however, write to them in your own words if you want to, if you prefer, but these questionnaires are now mainly used and advised by the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).

Complete and send to whoever was responsible for selling you the product, (head office or complaints dept if they have one).
Keep copies of all you send and receive in case you need to refer to this again at some point.

They normally have 8 weeks to give a decision, but may ask for more time, but they should keep you informed of the progress of your complaint.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

I was never unemployed... I had to leave my occupation, otherwise I would of been made redundant; which happened to the rest of my team 4 weeks after I left. I had already accepted another occupation, but for lower wages with the knowledge if I stayed at my previous employer I'd have been made redundant. Stupid although it seems, this was because I had to make sure I had enough to cover bills including the loan. Is this something that PPI would cover anyway?

    Thanks for this

So I dont have to send a covering letter just sending this form would be good enough :)
  • Do as much research as you can on PPI mis selling as its so much harder to claim at the minute.

Make sure you don;t just send one point of mis selling in your letter, you need to put the strongest case together as you possibly can or they will more than likely just try to fob you off.

    Your welcome

That is up to you of course.
If you've more information to give then write a letter as well, but just the form should be ok.;)

Hi there, you were never unemployed, so you could not claim on that part of the insurance, had you stayed at the company and were made redundant, then this you could have claimed for.Look here for reasons for mis sell and please make sure that some of these apply to you.

The reason for your "non unemployment" would not count as a mis sell.If you feel easier writing a letter in your own words then you can do that, or use the template letter as di said.Whatever is most comfortable for you. If you do the template letter now, then if it goes to fos you will have to fill another one in!!. Good luck with this and please keep us posted.
