Hello
I have just purchased an Acer d255 netbook and I can't connect it to the internet. When I first set it up my desktop was switched on and connected to internet and my netbook connected wirelessly with no problem. I then switched my desktop off and my netbook wouldn't connect, since then I have tried connecting with my PC switched on and it won't connect at all now.
I have a DSL-2640R modem, I have enabled the wireless. The internet light on the modem is green when I've tried to connect. My netbook sees my modem and says the strength is excellent. I am with talktalk as my internet provider. I can see other connections, one isn't security protected and it seems to connect to this one, although obviously I won't be using an unsafe wireless connection.
Hopefully I've given you all the information that you might need to help me. Anything else please ask. Thanks in advance for your help.

does it not have a Quick start or User manual0

Only about where button are and such. Can't find anything about connecting wirelessly. But the wireless is on0

Google your Wireless Router model and find the manual for it.
Then, using a cable connection to your router (so either use the Desktop computer or physically connect the netbook to the router), go through the set up instructions for the router. DON'T set a password at this point.
Then try to connect to the router wirelessly.
If that works then go back into the set up for the router and add a password.
Then connect using that password0 -
Someone has helpfully posted a mini guide for your modem/ISP. It might help - see here.0

Thanks everyone so far for the advice. I'm going out in a bit so I will try these solutions this weekend when I can devote the time to it. I don't know if this makes a difference but I did originally set up the connection and set a password when it connected to the internet the first time I tried0

First thing I'd try is switching my router off for ten seconds and back on - my modem/router periodically boots my laptop off for a while and I have to reboot the router to get back on. Hope it's as simple as that, otherwise these things can take a while to figure out!January: Jolibook netbook.
February: Nothing
March: May fortune smile upon me! Thanks to all the Comp posters & good luck everyone :beer:0
