  • Went to my local Boots this morning and printed voucher for free hair miniature product. Chose Umberto mini mousse for £1.99. Also picked up 2 packs of 31p razors and 2 Botanics glow lotion to add to my collection. Thought I would pay with my points in true money-saving fashion! But the SA and myself were most surprised to find the total changing from 62p to 261 points!! Obviously didn't want to spend 261 points, I'd much rather pay 62p, but it took the SA plus a supervisor to undo the whole thing, get my points re-credited, and then start the whole transaction afresh.

So do watch out when using the AC machine and spending points at the till, there is obviously a glitch in the system, and this time NOT in our favour!!

    Very disappointed with Boots today!

The Radox liquid soap is not on BOGOF at my local store, so didn't use the voucher from AC machine for free deodrant. Will try another branch of Boots on Saturday.

Tried 2 AC machines, but neither were offering me a voucher for 200points on professional haircare. Also, they had run out of Boots Silkymitts, so didn't bother trying to get the Botanics lotion. I hope I have better luck on Saturday!

This is normal - you can't use a coupon against a points spend. Ideally you should have given the hair mini and voucher in and paid the monetary sum of nothing, then paid 62 points for the razors and Botanics as a seperate transaction.

I bought two Max Factor things, spending over £15 and got the free gift box. I fully expected to be able to pay with points and get the free gift as most things in Boots are set up so you still get a GWP if you spend enough regardless of how you pay - but it didn't work. The till repeatedly refused to accept points for it and I ended up paying with a card instead. I am annoyed as I let it go - I don't mind buying the odd treat with points but I hadn't budgeted for it from my funds!

  • Thanks for that, PaleScene. I just wanted peeps to be aware as I could have easily NOT noticed the amount of points the till was deducting. The SA had no idea what the till was doing and got into a right tizz trying to undo it all, at some stage refunding me 500+ points!! Unfortunately the supervisor straightened that out again, and I ended up paying 62p and gaining 4 points from the whole palaver.

Next time I go back, I will make sure to do seperate transactions :rotfl:
