The Eat Natural bars are my favourite and I keep one in my bag. You can get them from Tesco/ Waitrose/ Boots

I also keep kids boxes of kids Innocent smoothies in my fridge for my children but do nab them myself if I am in a rush. They are not cheap but have a fairly long fridge life or could stay in your bag for a few days.

You coud make your own mini boxes of peanuts/ almonds/ brazils and keep one in your bag. You can buy little tupperware "snack pots" that are a good handbag size.

John West make "Light Lunches" they're tuna/salmon pasta/rice salad thingies and are in long life foil trays, complete with plastic fork. You'll find them near the tinned fish in the supermarket. They're tasty, filling, and have a long shelf life without refrigeration.
Hope your daughter's problems are sorted out soon.

I was going to mention those as occasionally poundland get them in, and sometimes Wilkinsons have them in cheaper than the supermarkets.

I guess it also depends on what you like to eat normally, I love rice cakes, but hate oatcakes (tried the expensive ones and still hate them)!

I do agree that it depends a bit too on if you need a sugar boost or if you need something "healthy" with slow release carbs (like the oats), and as mentioned if you do like nuts they are a very good option.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

I have a hospital bag ready (DS spends a lot of time there!)
    I leave it packed with:
small bag with clean knickers, deodorant, face wipes, thick socks, toothbrush & paste, lip balm, thin pajamas that cover my bum well
food - as I cant really leave DS and go to the shop - bottle of coke for the night shift!
Bottle of water - I put a new one in each time so they dont go off
Some healthy food - mostly cereal bars and cartons of fruit juice
A large choccy bar for that first night awake - yes its comfort eating, but I need comfort!
Two books and a puzzle book, pens, and a copy of our budget so I know what I need to make sure is paid while I m away. Ive put this in red cos its actually really important that things get done at home.
Hope things get better for you soon OP xx

I hope you daughter gets her seizures diagnosed and successfully medicated soon , nothing worse than emergency trips to A and E . Once the seizures are controlled they may stop altogether or she will be able to recover ok at home if she should have one.

The only thing I can add to the above is ice cubes ready to put in a wide neck thermos or better still, small bottles of water/squash kept in the freezer ready to grab. (Leave a note on the top of your hospital bag).

I find hospitals really hot and the frozen drinks defrost slowly and are really nice to sip.

This is a good idea for summer outings too.
  • you can get mini sachets of marmite and nutella from places like morrisons, they can be handy, and you can easily spread them on some melba toasts or oatcakes.

i like the little boxes of cereal aswell, i love eating them dry and things like cheerios make for a quick sweet snack.

poundland have hartleys ready made jellies on sale, 2 for a quid and they last ages so could be stored in your bag, maybe a cup a soup sachet, just a few ideas

cereal bar, packet of crisps, bottle of water, little carton of fresh orange juice, some spare change for bus / taxi home, packet of hand wipes and some disinfectant hand gel, and a book for each of you...

a wooly cardi you could use as a pillow to get some sleep? ( it would look a bit strange taking your own pillow in:))

Hope they get to the bottom of it soon and you don't have to dash off to A & E for many more visits.

I think it's fabulous bakin boys that do the individually wrapped flapjacks, also Asda do a big bag of individually wrapped fairy cakes.
  • You've had some great advice! I would say definately think about freezing sandwiches.

Take a look at this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/101746 it should give you an idea of what freezes well.

Hope things are getting better for you,

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before
