I Won My Appeal - IS

I came to this forum in November at my wits end as I was accused by IS of living together with my ex husband as a couple. This decision reversed an earlier decision made in April 2008 so I was being faced with paying back all that IS, HB and C Tax benefit as well as probably being prosecuted for benefit fraud. I appealed the decision as I knew I had done nothing wrong and was not living with my ex husband as a couple - we do live in the same dwelling but not as a couple.
Some members of this forum attacked me and went as far as to throw my disability in my face. There was no call for this and it is disgraceful that people behave in such a way. Surely the whole point in forums such as this are for people who are worried sick to try and get some advice. I wouldnt have thought it was for people to come in and throw a person's disability in their face.
I did appeal the decision and was contacted by IS yesterday to let me know that it went to a different decision maker who found in my favour.
I want to thank those who offered help and support when I was so worried.

There is a cached version of the OP's old thread on Google - some may recall it, they share a one bed flat and he sleeps on the sofa.Gone ... or have I?0

Yes thats the one0

When I was so worried, you said that we should have gone for a 2 bed instead of a 1 bed flat. I responded by stating that a 1 bed flat can house 3 people according to the council - IS agreed with me.0

yes I remember your earlier posts. That is great news! :j0

Pipsistoller i take it you have signed up with a new account to post this as you have only 3 posts at the min?
I think i remember reading your other posts before i actually signed up to post on the boards?
Im glad you got sorted . I cant see that you would have fought so hard to clear your name if you had been doing wrong....
Well done. The loopy one has gone :j0 -
I'm glad you got everything sorted out, wishing you all the very best for the future.0

Pipistroller's first thread was locked because many people questioned the veracity of the statements she made in her posts. She signed up to the forum to obtain help and advice as she had heard that this forum would be helpful to her.
Instead, she was abused and both she and I complained about the unpleasant treatment she received here, hence the thread was locked and I presume deleted.
I received a most abusive PM from one of the posters where I was accused of benefit fraud simply because I supported her. For what it's worth, I don't even claim any benefits still less try to claim fraudulently.
There are one or two people who frequent these boards who should be examining their consciences and asking themselves some searching questions.
I think she is a brave lady to return to let us know the outcome of her appeal to DWP.
Well done, Pipistroller, I applaud you.0 -
Thank you so much and yes certain people need to be looking at themselves.
I am so happy to be able to put the whole IS appeal behind me. I feel like I aged 50 years in the last few weeks!0
