My husband is looking to buy an Apple Mac 27". We have found a good deal at PC World, but was wondering if that is the best place to buy? Thanks

I always believed that Apple set the prices of their products so there's very little difference where ever you shop. If that's true, go with the nearest place that's got good customer service.
I was having this discussion with my son recently, no Apple shops near us but we have a dealer nearby that only sells Apple products, would we shop there or at John Lewis? When I've saved enough, I'll tell you what we decided lol.
... off to PC World website to find their deal

Please post a link to these deal. I wouldn't mind a Apple thing. Don't mind if I do0

It is possibly an old spec model as prices are not usually discounted. I'd compare withCurrent spec/price on apple website - and look if there are any refurbs on apple site. And check you would be covered by apple guarantee not pc world. if it still looks A bargain then go for it!
I have 12 month old 27" iMac and it's awesome.0 -
Find a Uni student in the family (or off the street) as you then get 14% off the price, they flash the id you pay simples......0

Apple sets the prices for all their units, so really whatever one is closest / best value on Quidco (3% for Pcworld collect at store or home delivery) And also doesn't matter where purchased from as Apple will do the repairs (so long as its a authorised retailer) (or if apples too far away then theres a separate part of PcWorld (I believe a part of PcW Business that repairs apples collection & return foc)
Also depending what you buy in PcWorld you should be able to haggle as its about 10 to 15% pure profit they make off any mac.
Unless you find a uni student and take them into a apple store (Or they can order from the campus)0 -
Readers of a nervous disposition, look away now - I'm about to recommend PC World/Currys...
They can be good for the previous model that's just been replaced. As above, discount is rare on Apple stuff. I was able to buy the previous MacMini (the last one before it went all aluminium) to upgrade my old one, and the sticker said £399. The till then said £350 which was even better, and I sold my old MacMini (C2D 1.8Ghz, Intel graphics) for £300 on eBay!
Trouble is of course that it's individual stores getting rid of stock, so you need to go round them yourself, rather than the website. They do have offers on sometimes (got my Dad his Macbook out of there) but just make sure you do your research into when the next model is coming along...0 -
Apple and official outlets don't do many discounts however you can still get them reduced by a decent % in (not really) 'tax free' airport shops, worth a phone call if you or anyone you know is apssing thru one soon.0

If you buy from an Apple store they will (if you ask) give you a quick lesson on set up etc. Depends on logistics, if you are closer to a PC World and already know your way around a Mac go for it.0
