Kindle and macbook pro

Hi...looking for some help. I am thinking about buying a Kindle, and I am sue I either read or heard somewhere that I can buy book for Kindle, and also download at same time to Mac. Anyone confirm this for me? Don't want to buy this - then be fighting over who wants to read the book first....lol.

MOST e-books can be played on up to 3 devices within Kindleworld - so for example you can have them on Kindle, mobile phone & computer.

Some books, newspapers & magazines currently only allow you to have them on a Kindle but you'll be told at time of purchase
