Hi
My husband is back in the next few days after being away for nearly 7mths in Afghan and we are looking at going on a family holiday (children 5 & 2yrs) for a week at the very beginning of March.
I am thinking of Egypt and the Red Sea so that we can get some diving in.. Has anyone got any advice on what areas to go for or avoid. We don't want to find ourselves directly under the flight path etc, and are just looking for somewhere to chill out and enjoy being a family again..
Many thanks in advance

We went to the sunrise royal makadi in hurghada 18 months ago with a 18mth and 7 year old. We loved it. We're trying holiday village red sea on Tuesday for the 1st time.Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.
wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!0 -
I have just looked the Holiday village up and it looks great. Can you let me know what you thought of it when you get back? And any tips.
Have fun0 -

we went to the intercontinental in taba heights - beautiful hotel and taba heights is a very small resort of a handful of hotels, shops and golf course and that's it - it is near isreal so you can do trips there and its easy to get to jordan too so you could go to petra if you wanted to
one thing to be mindful of is the temps and sunlight hours as in the winter some of the hotels do not heat their pools and you will need a heated pool in winter time as though it will be hot, it is not roasting hot0 -
We went to the Marriott in Taba Heights 2 years ago- if it is still the same, there were 3 biggish hotels together (Marriott, Sofitel, Intercontinental) connected by a walkway along the beach. It had a nice relaxed atmosphere with quite a few (but not too many) children and you could get a bus to the "village" for more restaurants and shops. The whole resort had security checkpoints and was quite isolated so felt quite safe. We did a trip to Jerusalem which was quite a contrast (though amazing).
We were there in April- half the pool was heated and half not (very cold!) separated by a wall. There were also a large number of Jordanians/ Saudi Arabians staying as there was some kind of religious holiday I think?
DD got slightly sunburnt though so sun still strong. It was great for a week, but I would have been a bit stir crazy for longer. The dive centre was developing, had some nice boats! I would recommend the resort- our hotel was great but I think the Intercontinental was the best one.Debts at LBW Jan 11 CCs TOTAL 41,300

we went to the holiday village last year, loads for the kids to do, we had a really good time, we did find it noisy at times, but that is because it was so big0
