Benefit and private pension, advice please.

:) hi all, posting on behalf of a friend who has no internet.
she and her partner live apart but are planning on moving in together in the next week or two. she is on benefits, (Income support) with 2 kiddies, her partner isnt in work and doesnt claim benefits because he receives a pension from his previous employer which he has been living on, (the pension is 360 a month and he lives with his brother so his out goings are not much at all.)
she knows she has to inform the DWP about him moving in but what will happen to her claim? am i correct in thinking it will affect her money (if so by how much) she seems to think as it's a private pension, it wont. i dont know anything about pensions, private or state, hence the post.
thanks in advance :)
Skint, but happy (ish):p

I think as they will be a couple she will have to start claiming JSA and the pension will be taken into account as income for definite.

Yes the pension income will reduce her benefits, she'll probably lose all her IS, but if she gets HB she'll probably keep most of it. He might be entitled to pension credit if he's old enough (over 61 I think now?). CTC should be unaffected as you need income above 16k to affect it.
