Redundancy questions

So heres the deal.
We have been informed we are at risk of closing our site (although this is pretty much a foregone conclusion), so I am after some info if anyone can help.
Our consultancy period ends at the end of March, then we find out for definite if we are closing or not.
Obviously during this time I have applied for a few jobs and am hopeful of having something else to go to, so my questions are as follows:
If I get offered a job and hand my notice (10 weeks notice) in before the end of the consultation period, I shall still be there after the consultation period, I wont be entitled to any redundancy, correct?
When we get our letters on the 1st of April there shall still be business to be completed, so they need some of us to stay on until approx July/August time. If I hand in my notice then, giving my 10 weeks notice will I be entitled to redundancy, or can they word the letter stating that my redundancy date will be July/August, therefore meaning I shall not get redundancy as I have left too early?
If I was to hand my notice in on the 1st of April, after the letters come out, but only offer for example 2 weeks notice period, I presume they could stop any redundancy payment as I am not working my contracted notice period, any ideas?

surely handing in your notice (therefore leaving of your own choice) would mean that no, you wouldn't be eligible for redundancy pay.... you won't be made redundant if you resign before redundancy letters are handed out...... you coul be sneaky and not hand in your notice and sit it out and see if you are made redundant with no suitable redeployment positions available.... and then take the money and go straight to your new job if the dates match up..... but how wrong would that be???All of my views are my own0

You should speak to your manager and ask if they'll be willing to release you early (with redundancy pay) if you find alternative employment.
I know my employer will.0 -
i think that after being given confirmation of your redundancy you can while working your notice serve counter notice of you get offered a another position in order to leave early....

I dont think it would be sneaky, or wrong. I am only having to find alternative employment as management has managed to screw my place of work up for long enough that we are now closing. It is not a case of waiting to see if we will be made redundant, we will be made redundant. Only by law are we having to go through a consultation period, but we have been told we are closing in so many words.0 -

I am not so sure ours would, unfortunately it looks like the team I am in, may be some of the last required. At the end of the day though, a job is more important than a bit redundancy pay so that is what I shall take, however it would be nice to get both, so the redundancy money could make up for the potential wage shortfall in the short term.i think that after being given confirmation of your redundancy you can while working your notice serve counter notice of you get offered a another position in order to leave early....
I will look into that, however I have been struggling to find definte answers so far0
