I cant get another credit card out can i because it says on this site to stop borrowing as the debt will always be increasing.

Surely you didn't need MSE to tell you that the more you borrow the more your debt increases?!

Actually, maybe that is everyone's problem, they fail to make the connection that money they borrow eventually has to be paid back.:D
  • ok, I know that was an obvious statement to make, what I meant was I know I shouldnt keep borrowing but I feel stuck as to what to do without borrowing more and the advice is that you dont borrow more...so i was just looking for helpful suggestions as to what i could do. And i understand perfectly that borrowed money needs to be paid back :o

Good result on the glasses :)

How much longer do you have left on your mobile contract? It may be worth ringing them anyway to see if you can lower the tariff; advise them you cannot afford to pay current tarriff any longer
Will you make enough from the phone to be able to end the contract?
Do you know how much longer you have until the house goes through? not having to pay the mortgage is going to make a huge difference to you

    Thankfully you have wonderful parents

Yes they are brilliant parents and am so thankfull to them for everything they do for me. I dread to think where I would be without them!

I have another 16 months on my mobile contract and it's £38per month:o I could afford it at the time. I can only get around £130 for the phone so I wont be able to pay off the contract. Im on hold to orange at the moment though to see if I can negotiate something with them. :)

Yeah once the house goes through things will be so much better (will be able to give my parents some rent for a change!) and I can start paying off my debt properly. I believe it should all go through by March, I know it's not far off now, it's just surviving until then without incurring loads of bank charges for going over my overdraft limit.

Im feeling more postive today, thanks for all you suggestions. Was feeling so out of my depth last night after the meeting with the bank when they said there's nothing they can do for me.

Ah well things can only get better eh!?

Things will get better for you x

Don't let the banks get you down; they are not your friend; they are a business purely out to make money

    Good luck with Orange

I dont have any capital in my car as its an old runabout and it's been lent to me I dont own it and do need it as using public transport where I live means taking an hour to get to work on a bus when it takes 20mins in the car, and they dont always coincide with the shifts I work etc.

The one thing you have at the moment is time. Would using the bus sometimes cost you less than the petrol?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

well it might save me a few pounds, but time is precious to me too as Im really busy (and i dont mean socialising I have lots of things I help out with). For instance to catch a bus tomorrow i would either need to leave home at 8:30 to walk 30mins into town to catch the bus, spend one hour on the bus to get to work, then once i finish my shift wait half hour for the bus to take me back home, sit on the bus again for an hr, walk back from town to home 30mins. or I catch one bus, then switch and catch the next, still an hour on the bus. Its just not as straight forward as jumpin on the bus and getting there. mind u it would keep me fit! maybe i should do it lol. :)

oh and got through to orange, they let me change my tariff, saved £10 per month wahoo.
