Tesco points

I have been collecting Twesco points for a while but recently there seems to be fewer bonus points on offer in the shops. Yesterday there was nothing at all with bonus extra points and this seems to have been the case for some while. I now get vouchers produced by the till giving extra points, but not all the time.

Does anyone know Tesco's policy about giving extra points?

  • Hi Greenpen,

Hope you don't mind my chipping in on your discussion.

Last couple of weeks, Burton-on-Trent Tesco have been printing out vouchers for £6 off when you spend £30 (i.e. 20% if you can get bang on the thirty quid). This is because Asda have just bought and opened the ex-Safeway store in the town centre. Both stores will accept each other's vouchers, so take your pick. You have to have a clubcard to get the voucher though.

Going back to your original point, I haven't seen any bonus points around for a while. They seem to be going all out on 342's and BOGOFs. Just the current climate I expect.

  • I got a £1 off when you spend £10 printed off at the till when I spent £8 last time but was almost out of earshot when the cashier said you have a voucher too.

I work for Tesco and have noticed that most people prefer money off rather than extra points .So it makes sense to offer money off I suppose.

When on the till I have noticed that the issuing of "at till" vouchers does not happen for everyone going through on that day but most of the vouchers are similar (though not all). I suppose they pay someone handsomly to devise the rules for this.

However recently I have noticed that whereas I was getting money off coupons "at till" and as bonus vouchers on my quarterly statement I do seem to be geting extra points...maybe they have noticed my mean streak ( I get double points at Tesco with my Clubcard plus (2 points per £1) and use my Tesco credit card on purchases at other places (1 point per £2). I particularly enjoy using my card at Sainsburys and collection both nectar points and also clubcard points.

I then use these points on the clubcard deals brochure which means that the value is multiplied by 4. I'm too mean just to spend these in store.

    Sad Eh

  • There were a few extra points vouchers that came with the clubcard vouchers but I'm happy to have cheaper stuff! Not only that but i've used so many money off coupons that some of my pooints are free anyway!

When do clubcard vouchers usually arrive? I've only been saving them the last few months and have 1700 points. I called the helpline for a new card with fob as I had an old style card and he said my cc vouchers would be with me in February.

  • They will be with you by 9th March, although it should not take that long.

I'm due 5000 points, so will convert them to deals and get £200 to spend in MFI! That will do nicely towards the balance of my new kitchen. :D

I have already received some of my points but with the volume (and the fact that they are sent out by mailsort (which is a low cost low/priority option as far as Royal Mail are concerned) it can take a few weeks to reach the whole country.

As for Clubard plus I phoned 08457 10 40 10 and followed the option for clubcard plus who advised that you can still get an application form but you have to ask.

I think it costs a lot to operate and they don't advertise the fact.

ps. remember Clubcard plus can only be used at Tesco

Make sure you're signed up with the Clubcard Exclusive Clubs, the mailouts usually contain vouchers for extra points and money-off coupons (in the big children's envelopes, there's another smaller one for parents)

Clubcard Clubs - link is on the left hand side.
