Withdrawing cash

This may be a really dumb question. I want to withdraw £2300 tomorrow morning from my HSBC account. Do I have to let them know in advance or can I just go in?

Would be worth phoning them up to check as many branches have lower limits then that.
Make sure you take plenty of ID (e.g. HSBC card + passport/driving licence/debit/credit card).0 -

Worth contacting them first as some banks have a daily maximum cash limit that you can withdraw in one lump sum.0

im not with hsbc but was under the impression you could take out that amount anyway and thought it was only cash machines that had a limit on them
i guess a call cant hurt though and i would definately take id with you0 -
Just out of interest, does anyone know what the walk-in withdrawal limit is for Santander. If I walked in and asked for, say, £1200, would they just hand it over? I presume a Passport would suffice for ID?I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

Not 100% sure on santander or HSBC but it's always worth giving them a call as can depend on branch size and how much they are holding. I did withdraw £1000 from Santander a few months ago with no issues though. Out of interest Nationwides is a super low £500 without notice.0

Most HSBC Branches will be Ok with withdrawing this amount. You will however need your chequebook as you'll have to cash a cheque. If you're not going to your home branch and you are not personally known to the staff - you might be better taking some form of ID (with picture and address) just in case.0

I phoned and they said that their limit was £5000 which was ok. They also said I needed a chequebook which I don't have. The guy checked with his supervisor and they realised I have a green account so no chequebook is issued. Apparently I can complete a form in branch
thanks for all your help 0 -
Santander is around £3,000 at my local branch0

Santander's walk in system is as follows: Branch counter with ID- £500. £300 from cash machine meaning you can withdraw £800. Anything more, phone the call centre, they need to arrange it with the local branch.I am a Mortgage Adviser
