Humax PVR ??

Afternoon all.

I was wondering if anyone had bought from humaxdirect.co.uk ?

I am looking to buy this Grade "A" PVR for my 13 yr old sons bedroom TV.

http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/product.asp?ProdRef=10069&cat=Factory

It comes with a 1 yr warranty etc.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thank you.

Go for it, great value, I purchased mine as a Grade A, but when it arrived it was actually brand new in a factory sealed box.

Agree with above comments, you may have to install the latest software updates check here http://www.dtg.org.uk/industry/download_schedule.php the Humax PVR9150T-G will do it on its own usually when you first switch it on.

I don't know whether Tesco are ever likely to have them back in stock:

I bought this http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/product.asp?ProdRef=10095&cat=stb but it was cheaper from John Lewis.

I got a Grade A PVR9300T a month back, but unfortunately it still had the November 2009 firmware on it, which has an infuriating bug which asked you to rescan all the channels each time you took the box out of standby (you could ignore this). Humax Technical Support were fairly useless, and eventually I had to buy a crossover serial cable and resurrect an old PC with a serial port and use a good program called Flash 9200 to update the loader and the firmware, obtained from the Humax website. The software updates are more easily obtained 'over the air', provided they are being broadcast (which they haven't been since mid Dec - I just missed the last one).
Of course, you probably will get a box with the latest firmware (May 2010) already installed...

The only other downsides to getting these boxes direct from Humax are that the warranty is half the retail version's, and that the (not very good IMHO) manuals which come with them might have been slightly used by the previous owner!

Other than that, I'm very happy with the box!
