Self employed and may need time off for operation

I'm probably going to need an operation which can be a bit risky. In the best case scenario I'll be off work a week, then can go back on light duties for a couple of weeks. In the worst case scenario, I'll need to take at least four weeks off.

I'm self employed and do pay Class 2 NI contributions. Can I claim anything while I'm off work? I know I don't get SSP but wondered if there was anything else.
Here I go again on my own....

Thanks - will ring the job centre and ask for advice.

Will need to jiggle finances depending on what I can claim.

If you are self employed, you should look into private insurance to cover times like this as well.

Insurance doesn't cover pre-existing conditions and only pays out after 30 days sickness.
