Do any charities recycle cards?

Options
Hi! Over the past 6 months I've had a baby, had an operation and had our wedding anniversary and have accumulated a large bag of greetings cards. I kept them to recycle into cards myself but can't see that I'll ever have the time now that I have a baby!

Does anyone know of a charity that can recycle cards for money before I just stick them in my regular recycling bin?

Thanks!

some of the local charity shops may, but the alternative is a playgroup / nursery / toddler group: not for money but for creative learning ...

Marks and Sparks had a bin for Christmas cards when I was in there the other week- I think it was for the Woodland Trust?
  • Thanks Birduk, I went onto the Woodland Trust website and found this (below) so I'll pop them into TK Maxx, maybe today.:T
Recycle your Christmas cards and help us plant trees
Don't throw your Christmas cards away - we need them to plant more trees.
Recycle your cards this January in special bins in TK Maxx, M&S and HomeSense stores
and the stores will donate money to the Woodland Trust which we will use for planting trees through our More Trees, More Good campaign.
And this year you can help us choose where to plant them. Enter your postcode to vote for more trees where you live.

  • What's special about greetings cards, that they seem to have a higher value than other paper, cardboard? I'm basing this upon the fact that there are separate recycling containers for these in so many places e.g. libraries. Might expect that increasing use of plastics on cards would make them less valuable to paper merchants?
