Resurrect an old printer!

I have an Epson Sylus Color 460 printer....yes, it is ancient!
Until recently it has worked just fine, and unlike most newer printers does not cost a fortune to replace the ink cartridges.
Now it seems to have become jammed or stuck somehow....not that there is paper or similar jamming it. All of the red warning lights are flashing indicating that the printer thinks it is out of all ink and paper, although these are all in place. I should be able to press and hold these warning buttons to replace cartridges or clean print heads...but the printer does not respond to this in any way.
Can it be easily ( by me ) or cheaply resurrected or am I doomed?
I have tried the obvious of turning it off at main power.

probably reached service time.
ssc util will let you reset that
When I use it I also bodge-clean the ink pads on either side of the printer, just dabbing with kitchen roll will remove a lot of ink from them without having to either get dirty or disassemble the printer at all Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
Check any sensors as well.0

Thanks for replies......
BUT, if I knew what a sensor looked like or where it was, I would check it....
and that link seems to take me to a site with a multitude of dodgy things to unload and I don't know how to proceed!0
