Coming off benefits how?

Options
hi, i'm sorry this may seem a bit long but help needed been looking for info as i know nothing about benefits and thought this site was great!
My sister who is 52 has been on incapacity benefit for last 5 years, also gets dla low rate care and mobility..she never hears anything from anyone no medicals etc.just gets her benefits every month..
she has been playing online bingo for the last 8 or 9 months and she loves it.. now the problem is she has been offered a job on the site..
40 hrs a week spread over 7 days all different shift patterns, working from home, and minimum wage, and she will be self employed..with a contract etc so all seems ok...its an ideal job for her working from home she wont have to go out (agrophobia) and no walking standing etc (artheritis) but i'm worried..if she tells incapacity benefit what does she say? is this classed as a proper job? what happens if she can't cope and leaves? she just says well thats ok i can go back on benefits, is this right? any help very much appreciated!! thank you..

There is something called permitted work. Has she looked into this?

yes i have been trawling sites for days... but its under 15 hrs a week so no good for her but thanks for replying..
  • Hi

She will have to tell them that she has been offered full time employment. She can write to them, email them or ring them. She will get the dla still just not the incap.

Hopefully she will enjoy the job and will be able to cope but yes she can go back on benefits if she has too

It is a proper job as she has a contract and is being paid 40@min wage.

I don't think HMRC would consider her to be self-employed if she works for only the one company and has to fit in with their shift patterns. See this - https://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/detail?itemId=1073792190&type=RESOURCES - for what being self-employed means.
