Golly! Thanks for all the replies!

I own a Yaris so numerous trips to the local recycling centre (tip) is not really an option for the whole lot although I am happy to do a couple of journeys with bits I can't get rid of.

I had thought of putting it on Freecycle but it is a really crummy kitchen- not sure whether anyone would actually want it. And, as someone has pointed out, I would have to store it for a period for someone to come and pick it up. Since I am having a rigid kitchen and have to store that I think I will be struggling for space.

Plus I wasn't sure how the kitchen would be removed, whether it would be in any state to give away to someone! My garage already has old kitchen units in it so I have no need for them.

I think I will keep exploring my options and have a skip as a last resort. Thanks!

and all this talk of trips to the local dump just hot air.

rubbish. ive done it loads of times. ive only ever got skips for really big jobs.

ive even moved house with a mini van, !!!!!!.

spending 100/200 quid on a skip for a pi ss pot kitchen job, is nuts.

Putting a smelly /wet sharp pile of rubbish is not an option if you value your car.
I may well stack clean conti board in the boot but not rubble.

If I damage my seats would cost more than the price of a skip.
Also you have to think time and money , chucking everything in a skip , takes no time ... but lots of money.

Bagging /sorting and then driving to a dump only costs petrol , but have never managed a trip of less then an hour .

So it all depends , on the sort and amount of rubbish, distance from dump and wether you have the time.
Worse thing is sending a skip back only half full , thats really stupid.

Give it a whirl on freecycle like others have said.

I had a couple of skips last year for my garden clearance and it would have cost me 3 skips but each time I loaded the skip someone would come and take out what they wanted!! LOL

You will be amazed what people will take out of skips and off freecycle.
