PCN from Glasgow City Council

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone could offer some advice over a PCN I got the other night.
Bsically we parked in a street approx 15.45 and returned at 22.45 to find the car gone. (as well as another coupel of people). First thoughts were the cars were stolen.. quick look to see no broken glass made me think something else had happened. I started looking for a notice of some sort to see if someone had left details of what had happened.
After a few minutes of going from lamppost to lamp post I came across a road notice from the council saying the parking had been suspended from 16.00 to 22.00 (football night)
The notice was tiny and on a lamp post about 15 metres away from where I had parked.. on the other side of the road.. in the other direction from which we were going.
There were police cones.. which had not been there when we arrived. There were no markings on the kerbs or the road (Govan Road for those who know Glasgow).
Do I have a just cause for appeal (which I will be doing). Can I ask the council for any proof they may have (photos etc...)
Also, my car was towed and dumped in another street (1/2 a mile away) and there seems to be damage to the paint work and bumper. I intend to chase them up for damages. From what I've found so far my claim is against the Council and not their 'agents' who towed the car. Is this right?
If any can offer any advice or help it would be most appreciated
Thanks
Matthew

Any action needs to be taken against the council as the removers were their agents. Take photos of the signs on the lampposts. and any signs or markings on the road. Post up your ticket if you received one, with your details removed.
You can post it here, but post it over on Pepipoo, they are the experts when it comes to council/Police enforcement.

If its any consolation, in London they would have towed you to the pound and charged £200.00 for the privilege.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Thanks for the advice. Will try and get something posted this weekend. Have sent my appeal off today but still looking for advice incase they reject it... which I'm guessing they might.
Also, one thing thats been suggested to me is that the council are trying it on and know they haven't got a hope.. the thinking behind this one is that the car wasn't taken away to a secure lot. It was dumped on a street a 1/2 mile or so away. any thoughts?0 -

They can remove the car to a nearby place and that is better than towing to a pound really as long as they don't dump you on a double yellow and then issue another PCN (has been known!).
Anyway, yes you have grounds for appeal - probably more grounds than you realise. Not just based on the lack of signs I expect, there's more to appeals than meets the eye. You'll know what I mean when you start a thread on the parking board and start receiving replies on pepipoo, direct link.
You must let them see the front & back of the PCN, all small print. And pics of the lines & signs if you can get them, including the ends of the bay. Have a read of some other threads there first before starting your own and you will see what is needed in the way of pictures.
Oh, and yes, the Council will almost certainly decline your informal appeal. Most do, it's par for the course. Doesn't mean you haven't got a case! Onwards & upwards, appeal all the way to the adjudicator with pepipoo's help. You risk nothing except possibly paying the full (non-discounted) fine if you lose. No extra costs as long as you meet all appeal deadlines, got to be worth it every time bearing in mind MOST cases that go that far win or are not pursued by Councils.
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
