I loved Port Douglas, we went in June and it was fairly empty. We had a hire car and based ourselves there for four nights, turned up and booked a nice place at a good discount. We dont do cities so didnt bother with Cairns. Did do the Daintree tour which was great apart from the mossies.

I also recommend a trip to the Atherton Tablelands - mountains and glorious. We bought my engagement ring in alittle village there so mildly prejudiced....!

We took a copy of Lonely Planet guide which was well worth the investment.

I hope you have a lovely holiday.

PD seems to be everybody's favourite, I'm really looking forward to visiting (aw, I'm getting all excited again and it's still 11 months away)
