Help - scroll not working

This is irritating rather than a major problem. I am no computer whizz but can use one... ish.

2 days ago i noticed the down scroll arrow on the rhs of the screen had stopped working?
Up arrow works ok when left clicked on. Further if i click and hold on the vie bar (not sure what the proper term is...) to move down the page, that works to??
I changed the mouse to one with a scroll wheel and that works too???
I have done a system restore (XP) to an earlier date and that has not rectified matters either.........
Now for the really weird bit.... if i reduce the page size using the restore view button (top rhs next to the close box) it all works OK ?????????

Stumped now. If any one can help i would be most grateful.
Any one got any ideas???

You don't say which application this is happening in. I'm assuming Internet Explorer with your mention of 'page' - correct?

Does it affect other programs as well? For example Notepad, Wordpad, Windows Explorer, another browser e.g. Firefox. Try it and see.

Works on everything else i have tried, word, windows explore.
I have installed firefox and it works on there too?

Any thoughts?

Its still doing it.......... Help!!! mIts driving me nuts as it was my pref method.

Maybe it's Mozilla's way of telling you to use FireFox instead of IE?
