Would you use a Tesco Salon?

Spotted this on another forum, so can't be certain it's true but thought it was an interesting topic anyway..
Tesco, Britain's largest supermarket store - selling everything from clothes to DVDs - confirmed today it's set to move into the beauty industry with a major roll out of in-store salons.
The news comes after the success of three existing Tesco salons and the announcement of two new beauty sites in Chesterfield and Leicester which are due to open by the end of January. It is aiming to open a possible 70 Tesco salons by next year.
It's a major development for retail giant Tesco, which is hoping to generate £15m turnover in its first year - and is likely to have an impact on independent salons up and down the country.
It is thought Tesco - which aims to go in direct competition with Boots to be the country's biggest health and beauty provider - will offer hair, nail and beauty services such as threading.

Would you consider going to a salon in your local tesco shop? Would you consider it if the prices where much cheaper then normal salons?
For me, it's a definite no! I think going to a beauty salon is about treating yourself to a little bit of luxury and you should come out feeling good about yourself and a bit spoilt and I just can't imagine getting that feeling after a facial in tescos!
Also, although I do some of my shopping in tesco I do like to support local business and I don't like how tesco has such a monopoly.
What does everyone think?

I would go if the services offered were of a good standard and it would save me money, I'm not interested in the luxury or pampering side and would go to a spa or similar if I wanted that but for your basic treatments like threading, nails etc the answer would be yes:)
I do agree with you about supporting local services in principal but in reality my main concern will always be me and mine so if I get the same standard in Tesco at a cheaper price then thats the one I'll choose.Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
I would, for some things. I have my regular lady for waxing etc, but really struggle to find acrylic nails or threading here, and prices are insane when I do find them. If Tesco were to offer these at sensible prices then I'd be there.0

I think for general treatments e.g. nails, waxing etc I might go as it would probably be cheap and I could conveniently get it done while my husband did the shopping (probably in my dreams!!) but as glowgirl said, for the luxury stuff I'd go to a proper spa.DFW by end of June 2016...! LBM June 2011

Depends if I could use my clubcard vouchers or not

On a more serious note, yes I would use it.
I honestly can't afford a haircut as often as I would like, and when I do have one I don't necessary see it as a luxury, its far more a necessity. I would of thought Tesco's might be more of a decent price than all these salons.
Personally I'd love nothing more than to support the local businesses but frankly my money doesn't stretch that far.0 -
The indifferent level of customer service and the stroppy and unhelpful attitude of a great many staff, from the top downwards, towards customers in my local Tesco Superstore is quite shocking at times.
For that reason in particular, amongst others, I can't begin to imagine putting my bod in their hands.0 -
I don't think so. TBH our local Tesco is so grim I try and spend as little time in it as possible.
The thought of trusting my skin/nails/eyebrows to them is likely to give me nightmares tonight....0 -
i might consider using them, like others said would depend on price and quality of staff etc.
tesco would have to review the way lots of their carparks are manned as you would need longer than 2 hours if they want you to shop and then have nails/waxing etc done:DLead us not into temptation...
just tell us where it is and we'll find it....0 -
I would,i'm sure it'd be dressed as a normal salon, and they'd have qualified beauticians there not checkout ladies. If I can pay 20 quid for a service or maybe 10 for ine equally as good I'll pay less. If the standard were lower however, then I would not. I can't imagine
Tesco tryingto break into a new area and only give it 40%.

No, becaiuse my local hairdressers do mine very well. I only have a wet cut for £12 which suits me fine. This includes a wash.0

No.....just no.
What on earth are they going to get into next! Tesco bids for world domination, can see it happening too.0
