one4all Post office gift card

Anyone had any problem redeeming these?
I've tried twice in Boots over the last few days and the tills won't accept them even though it clearly says on the leaflet that they are valid in Boots.
I rarely use the other shops so I'm a bit miffed.

  • Is it just the till operator telling you that it's not going through or are you being told it's store policy not to accept them?
I'd ask to speak to a supervisor and if it's still a problem complain to head office.
If it says they accept them then they can't just refuse (unless they never agreed to in the first place which I very much doubt).

They take a minimum of 2 days to activate after purchase.

Definately more than 2 days since purchase.
The assistant did not dispute that Boots should accept them - the till said no!
1st time she tried swiping and typing the number in but it would not go through.
2nd time was only swiped ,but wouldn't work.

I will ring up if I can't use it next time I try ,but I just wanted to know if this is a common problem (something one of the assistants said hinted as much)
If no-one else has experienced problems it is more likely to be a problem with my particular card.
If it is the latter I am a bit concerned I will have no redress as I have disposed of the receipt which came with it.
    Thanks for your replies

Don't know what Boots' systems are like, but we swipe it as a credit/debit card. If we try selecting "gift card" it doesn't accept it
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

same happened to me in new Look - the till operator was swiping it as a gift card and called a supervisor who immediately said " you need to swipe it as a debit card"
she did that and it worked straight away

Tried to use one of these useless cards in the Post Office today to be told you can't use them in a Post Office. I did point out it said Royal Mail on the card and was told rather rudely no, I asked why it was called a Royal Mail gift card then!! Answer: Well you can buy Debenhams, New Look cards in Tesco but doesn't entitle you to buy Tesco items with them. I pointed out that these cards dont have Tescos logo all over them, unlike the Royal Mail branded gift card. I can't see the point in the cards, no one wants to accept them, even the retailer!!! Very very frustrating. DON'T BUY THEM.

@JohnRe - it's not rocket science - why not check on their website as to where the card is accepted before you go making a prat of yourself...?
