PayPal - Nationwide Credit Card

Hi there,
I need to pay someone who bought parts for my car at trade price for me, saving nearly £200.

He has requested PayPal.
If I pay him using paypal and my CC, will I get charged the "Cash Advance" fee?
Or will it just count as a normal merchant transaction?

all help will be greatly appreciated

Normal merchant transaction if you did not register your bank account at PayPal, and direct debit if you did register your bank account at PayPal. On the other hand (I am not entirely sure about this), but depending on where the other party is (e.g. if he is in the US), a currency conversion fee may be added to the transaction by Nationwide if Paypal would use a non-Europe payment processor .
  • My N/W CC has been linked to PayPal for some time - no upsets, even refunds work just fine including one purchased and refunded in USD.

I pay through Paypall on my card all the time, it is always a purchase. So I wouldn't think you will incure the fee...but I always nirmally "pay", not like "send cash" if you know what I mean.. Like Ebay purchases.
So I wouldn't swear on it..

Just thinking yhat is prettymuch the same think..people selling on Ebay are also often normal private individuals..
  • thanks all.
we shall soon see i guess.

I've paid for many ebay items using my cc with no bother, but never sent money to an individual before!

just thinking if funded by a Credit Card the receiver will be charged a fee to receive the payment, if he is an individual is he aware of this?
  • I have recently used my Nationwide credit card on PayPal and it appeared as a normal transaction with no additional charges whatsoever.

One of my transactions was on PayPal USA so the transaction was in USD (converted by Nationwide to GBP at a fairly good rate!).

Tesco credit card shows as a normal transaction as well.
  • Thanks all, and he is aware of the charges. I think he wants to buy a PS3 on ebay but has no money in his bank, so he's doing it this way so he can buy it.

    each to their own! haha
