It's the geographic position in London that allows them to charge that kind of money. I've watched these rise up out the ground over the last 3 odd years as it's on my commute. Harrods, Harvey Nicks etc are a stones throw away and it backs onto Hyde park - you can't really get better if having teh prime location at any cost is your cup of tea. Not sure I would want a flat basically on Knightsbridge junction but I daresay the soundproofing is pretty damned good...

There are ugly in a classical sense but (to my mind) sort of work. Spoke to one of the workers the other year and he reckoned the cost overall was 2 billion. Also for context, the 140 million flat is over two (massive) floors and will be larger than many large houses in terms of square footage - Not that that makes it a bargain or anything!!

I also heard that the annual service charge was over 70k a year. But that will be loose change for the owners....

Have to say, it is a fantastic location!

    Quote from the article:

"Property experts say that international buyers view London as a stable, safe market for money."

    London is where it's at!

Buyers of those flats are outliers. We cannot imagine how rich some Arab sheikhs are and there is no point in discussing this in MSE forum (and gauge the market sentiment from these purchases).

It is also pointless to discuss how much their prices will fall in future. £140m for most of us like infinity. Even if their prices fall by 50% by next year, it will still be as unaffordable to most of us.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Theres no point in even comparing these types of properties with the general housing market.

It's kind of like suggesting all cars will rise in price, as theres a new Veyron on the block, with only 20 being built and investors from Saudi are flocking in to buy them....so good news, your fiesta may cost more soon.

I think we have the most bearish comment EVER on MSE. Take a bow.

They actually start at 6.5m. Only the penthouse has that £100+ million talk.

Agreed sort of. I think they can be beaten on location....even with a five minute walk, (or 12 minute bus crawl) and certainly with in their own view. BUT I can see why as a ''statement'' address combined with location and for the use these places will get it might seem otherwise. The soundproofing is bound to be excellent, if its on a par with the places I've been in in that area though, but woe betide if you like to sleep with a window cracked open.

Doubt the In house Security officers would allow it - Open invitation for assasins...!
