In terms of customer service and perks, what is the best current account? Any that give lower mortgage rates if you have a current account with them?
Thanks

First Direct for customer service plus their 8% Regular Saver is pretty good.
Halifax for perks - monthly free £5 as long as you pay in £1000 each month.0 -
First Direct seem to do well in this area if you can pass the credit check and pay in enough money each month around £1,500 if I remember!David
£1 of debt is too much for me!0 -

Just ask them to open an internet savings account for you as well, and deposit £1 in it. Then you will not be required to pay the £10.
As for the £50 transfer from elsewhere idea - that'd work too0 -

Halifax offer Rewards to their current account customers who can pay in at least £1000 to their account.
Not just the £5 reward, but they offer discounted rates on mortgages, higher savings rates, £50 cashback if you take out Home Insurance, £5 reward on credit card (min £300 spend).
Their Ultimate Reward offers cashback if you take out a mortgage too - not sure but it was £150.
If you do the switching in branch, be crafty, as you can also get £50 for switching too as long as you let them switch the direct debits/credits. Ask them in branch if there is a cash incentive for switching your account.
To be honest the most important thing for me is the service you get from your bank and how they treat you.0 -
If you can, go to First Direct.
They are truly the best bank for service. Product range is not the best in terms of interest rates etc. But occasionally [like Regular Saver, and some mortgages] they can be market leaders.
The main point is that whenever you have a real query or problem, phoning them is a dream. Never more than three rings. Straight through to intelligent human being who will do their best to help.0 -
For service I agree with First Direct. However, for loans and CCs I have found NatWest to be better.0
