Car Insurance Help .....

Hi everyone,
This is my first posting so any help will be very grateful.
I am 30, Teacher based in London. I want to insure my bmw 316i Compact (1996). I have no NCB, driving for 9 years and have no convictions. I park my car in a Garage at home and do 1000 miles Annually as I don't use my car much.
My best quote so far is £1230. I have tried many other comparison sites and can't seem to find ant lower.
Can you tell me what else I could do to make it lower or is there any where else I could look at?
Many thanks

Have you tried following all the suggestions in Martin's guide?

That is good price for BMW, in london, that low miles and no NCD.
9 years licence and no NCD? have you been a named driver anywhere recently? If so you might get some mirrored NCD from this though that insurer so worth a try.
You can also try Direct Line and Aviva, plus some specialists - Coverbox and Insure the Box both have mileage based telematics schemes.
If you only do 1000 miles a year, do you actualy need a car? You would be far better renting a car when you need it - would be a newish car too rather than an older one - no worries about tax, insurance or breakdown.0 -

Thanks for the reply Premier.
I have tried Martin's Guide: based on 10 Second Summary I have read and done exactly
Step 1: as Martin has suggested and as far as 'Tweaking my Job Title' goes I would assume being a Teacher is one of the lowest risk category.
Step 2: I did combine all the comparison sites and Go Compare gave me the cheapest.
Step 3: I did not find anything which would help when it comes to Cashback.
If there is anthing else you can suggest that would be really helpful.

Thanks for the reply dogbot.
I have had no NCB due to the fact that I have working abroad and have been here on and off for 9 years. Unfortunatly, I have had no mirror NCB either.
The reason I got a qoute for 1000 miles is that I would assume that this would give me the lowest premium?
If there is anything you can suggest I would be very grateful.

You assume wrong. 20 miles a week makes you a horrendous risk, especially in London. Cheapest is usually around 8-10k miles per year.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Shouldn't you be getting quotes based on what you actually drive rather than what gives you the cheapest premiums?0
