My old dog needed root canal work three years ago...he'd crunched on a rock and broken his canine tooth down to below the gum, so he needed the tooth and nerve taken out.
The bill came to £835!!!! No doubt it'd be even more now.
Thank God for dog insurance.0 -
The dog will have to be anethetised for an extraction. Mine had a back tooth out about 6 months ago for the same reason as what you are saying, he charged me £220 and that included him thoroughly cleaning all the teeth aswell. IMO, thats not a bad price at all, if it infects the rest of the mouth, it'll be much more expensive, as well as being more painful for the animalJust bumbling along, trying to save some moneyCouldn't do it without coming here every day:T:T:T£2 Savers ClubSealed Pot Challenge - ~16930

Mine was similar - £215 for a back tooth extraction needed because of an abscess in Sept 09.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I think you need to get your dog to the vet pronto - there may be infection in the mouth which is causing pain and bad breath. It may also be that the teeth and, depending on the breed, mouth pouches that need cleaning thoroughly.
You can ask your vet at that time when he has diagnosed the problem what the cost will be. I'm afraid that I don't think you can just leave it having treatment because you don't know what it is going to cost.0 -
It cost £165 for my dog to have 13 teeth out. She's 6 1/2 and we didnt realise how important it was to brush a dogs teeth especially small dogs with short noses (she's a Shih-Tzu). Her breath is now much better;) and we'll be brushing her teeth regularly from now on (not an easy job!)0

I think unless there were complications, you were ripped off big time (or your insurance were!). The general concensus here seems to be about £200 give or take.
My dog had very similar to yours (he tried to catch a rock that I had thrown in the river:o. His canine was broken off at the gum and the broken bit was embedded into his lip under the skin. Bill came to about £190.

It depends on the size of the dog (amount of anaesthetic), which tooth it is (some teeth are easier than others) and how the rest of the teeth are. Ask your vet for an estimate, they will give you the best idea of price0
