    So by cutting Mr Andersons salary to say £200k, you could have 2 or 3 extra workers in frontline services.

    And by getting rid of the parasite altogether (and the rest of these overpaid latterday town clerks) along with all the miniature empires they create and foster, we could improve services and slash charges.

    But that wouldn't suit the Left's political agenda, would it?

    He is Labour...

    To be deserving of an exceptional salary someone in this position must be exceptional themselves. If they are good at their job they shouldn't be taking a pay cut. Generally the issue is not how much someone gets paid it how much they contribute and add value and this is what warrants their salary. That is the question, are they good at their job and do they add value?

    There may be an argument for exceptional people getting high salaries, however there is also an argument that such roles can be shared between several authorities so you need fewer council Chief Execs and therefore fewer similar salaries.

    That is a lot more efficient than it is run now, it would save money and could improve their output.
