Hi folks,

There was a small crack that has now spread all the way across the inside pane (double glazed) of velux window in bedroom, and it is now in danger of falling in, so need to replace it asap.

Its a GGL-4 (with a sort of serial 112 L 04 C) 38 by 36 inch approx and I will get a local contractor to do it, I expect to pay around £125.

Any tips on what I need to insist on as I notice that its a sort of black stuff that is used instead of silicone to seal the pane in? and any other things like toughened glass etc.

Thanks for replies and pointing me in the right direction

There were a heap of these windows that had defective panels which Velux were replacing free of charge, might be worth a phone call

  • I would make sure you get the inner pane as laminated
