Formula milk - where to buy it cheapest or cheapest brand?

I'm using Cow & Gate at the moment but it has just gone up to £7.59 for 900g. With my first child I used Farleys which was £5 per tin and he was fine on it but I just can't find it now. Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy formula or if there is anywhere that still sells Farleys or a cheaper alternative to Cow & Gate?

  • My daughter has SMA - I find the prices pretty much the same wherever we go for it. I think we pay £7.67 a tin at Tesco.

Shops sometimes have offers on the follow on milk (half price etc) but not on the first milk.
  • Farleys was changed to Heinz Nurture which was discontinued about 6 months ago. You will not find any special offers on formula for babies less than 6 months as the goverment have banned any sort of promotion on formula feeding as they think that we should all breastfeed. Nevermind there are some people who can't!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I think farleys was discontinued a few months ago.

Like other posters have said offers are usually on 2nd stage and toddler milk, its illegal to promote 1st stage baby milk, which is great (not) and probably why there are never any offers on first stage milk.
  • How old is you little one? Is he/she old enough to move onto cows milk? I know people says 'keep 'em on in until thy're 2', 'vitamins and iron bla bla' but it's easy enough to supplement cows milk with leafy greens and other fresh fruit and veg in baby food :)

If you do need to buy formula, have you tried 'mysupermarket' to compare prices in the big 4? The other thing is make sure you're not missing out on healthy start vouchers (for low income families) which can be redeemed against formula.

formula is pretty much a fixed price.

you get offers usually on the 1 yr+ milk but never really on the others

    ???

Not true, as Boots had the SMA on two for £10 recently!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

That was follow on milk. The shops by law can not advertise or have an special offers on first infant milk. They can however have offers on 6 month plus milk.

I breastfed my little one up untill 6 months then introduced him to formula. I read that cow and gate is the same is Aptimal (same product different prices). If your baby is older than 6 months the ASDA baby event is currently selling a 1.6kg tub of SMA follow on milk for £10. Ive never seen them in the shops before but they are fantastic value.

They must've had the wrong product on the shelf then, as it was definitely the newborn stuff, and the offer said for SMA.

(I didn't buy any as I breastfeed DS)
