UK Mail Livingston (Edinburgh) - delays

I bought a hi-fi system from Creative Audio who offer a 'next-day' delivery service a the New Year. Since there were some bank holidays around I was happy to wait a few days for delivery. CA sent the package to UK Mail on 4th January and I'm still waiting! (19th Jan). We've had some bad weather in Scotland and UK Mail claim a massive backlog but my wife ordered stuff from M&S and it turned up three days later - delivered by UK Mail Livingston! CA have been great trying to get UKM to deliver but it seems the bigger companies like M&S have priority. CA have offered me a £15 rebate which I'm happy with - but it's not really their fault! Rant over!

Bought an Ipad from Apple for my husbands birthday - on next day delivery.
Tues - got card from UK Mail of delivery failure - I was out. No phone number or address map as to where they were. When contacted them (having found them on internet) they said this was the second delivery attempt!!
Had delivered on Friday. I had been in all day, and no card was left - so where did they attempt delivery??????????????
Stayed in all day Wed. Got email stating delivery failure - AGAIN. This time I had left the front door open, with note on it stating I was at home. No card was left at my house, and no one rang the bell or knocked on the door. Where are they delivering to??????????????
Apple could not have been nicer. They have spoken to UK Mail a number of times. Have received the free Ipad cover as compensation but as yet STILL HAVE NO IPAD. Husbands birthday has been and gone.
UK MAIL are completely RUBBISH:mad::mad::mad:0 -
I heard my letter box go this morning, so finished off what I was doing and went down as you do. There on the mat was a UK Mail card timed at 10:42, my clock said 10:46, and no van or driver outside!! Tried to find a number for the local depot, however they only provide a postal address. Called "Customer Services" and asked "Can the driver come back, I'm actually in?" Answer - "Not today, no", then she cut me off!!! I think I'll stick with Royal Mail .......0

To be fair, the weather hasn't been that bad in Scotland this year. Last year, yes, I would have expected it, but this year it's not been anything like the last 2 years. A couple of small snowfalls but nothing that seen roads closed or the like of last year.
I would be taking this further with the retailer. It's them who have failed to deliver by using this company. They should at the very least be resending the item to you using a different courier.
The problems with backlogged stuff, it goes to the back of the queue, so the newest stuff coming in got sent out first. The older stuff has already failed, so they aren't too fussed about sending it urgently.
fjane - I've had the same problems with several courier companies. I just don't order from the ones I know send by courier these days, I would rather pay a bit extra and know that RM are delivering it. Have had very few problems with RM over the years, but for some couriers..... Nightmare.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Looking for a depot phone number, only to find this thread. Groan.
I need a component for my car. Delivery was due today by UKMail.
I have a consignment number to track the delivery. At some point today, they updated my status to "Delivery Rearranged By Recipient".
Called head office. It rang out twice (6mins), then got an overworked operator on the 3rd attempt. She could find no reason for the new status, and said it would be delivered tomorrow (or I could collect it from the depot - 20 miles away! Fat lot of use, when I need the part for my car!!)
My only other experience of UKMail was as a recipient of 10 test letters my work sent to me to test them. Only 5 ever arrived, up to 2 weeks after posting! Avoid like the plague!0
