It's funny, it feels like your are talking about my daughter. For her 40th, her friends took her karting. She loved it. Yes, even at 40 years old!0

Oh and how about bringing her wine tasting?0

You can do a Shark dive at Deep Sea World in Dunfermline which would be something different. A friend got this as a gift for his birthday and really enjoyed it. I also like your idea of the '30 gifts' but do have to agree with the above poster that I would prefer stuff that I could 'use up' vodka, sweeties, bubble baths etc and not a load of stuff that I would have to store. I'm sure she'll appreciate the amount of thought you have put into it!
Oh and I turned 30 in November and got a packet of Paracetamol wrapped up to help with the pain of turning 30, made me smile (they came in handy the next morning too)!!0 -
Good thoughts guys! Thankyou all! And you'r right about clutter.. i hadnt really totally thought it out but I'm sure between the two of us we can think of 30 useful not clutter presents! Liek Cd's and DVD's she might like and the sweeties etc!
I like the paracetamol idea too! :P
The shark idea is a maybe - I'll check it out.. we looked into the charity skydive idea and we knowthe minimum sponsorship is £300 - so there would still be an extra £160 to find.. and we thought it was a bit %hit for her to have to raise an additional £160 to get her bday present! Maybe we can all do it as a joint 40th in 10 yrs or so time!!0 -

Sorry I didn't mean this as her only pressie. I thought maybe you and her friend could help raise the money for her. I helped OH and he raised it soooo eaily, people are very generous. Sure there are lots of things locally you could do to raise it and you could put some of your money towards it and use some to get her a gift. Just an idea anyway.
Sure she will appreciate what every you do.0 -
How much curling has she done? If she is really getting into the sport she might appreciate a pair of curling shoes or her own brush, or even a proper pair of curling gloves to keep her hands warm on the ice. While curling gear doesn't come in cheap it can be worthwhile having your own gear. You can get a top of the range brush for £130, and also shoes that can come in under this price, but there are many many other accessories that you could get.
Feel free to get in touch and I could help point you in the right direction for some good suppliers that I know.No longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000 -
thanks Mrs C to be. She's done it for like 4 or 5 months now? Initially it was through young farmers but I think she'll keep it up once a week/fiortnightly. I'm not sure I'd want to get her an expensive brush or shoes at the mo but gloves or other accessories would be a good idea..0

Ah so she only started this season then. Go to

to see gloves. I have the Good as Gold gloves and would recommend them. Give BCS a call and speak with Tom, he is extremely helpful and will advise you on a few bits and bobs. Not sure if you said when your friend's birthday is but the Ice and a Slice calendar could be quite fun - its the mens version of a charity calendar brought out to raise money for charity (it's also on the site) and features many of Scotland's top names in curling in various states of (un)dress, all with a curling theme to them!
She also might appreciate a slider if you don't want to go as far as shoes,

again, Tom can help and will be able to advise, all you need is the shoe size!
If there's anything else I can help with on the curling front then please get in touch. I've been curling just over 20 years now (started when I was in primary 5 - still as bad as the day I started lol!) and I would only use Tom at BCS, or Gail at North West Castle, Stranraer, to get my gear from.No longer ...tobe! How about an "its your life" style photo book? Kind of a life story of all the things she's done over the last 30years. My sister made me a scrapbook for my 30th and it was gorgeous, she'd used family photos, school ones, ones from my friends from when we went on our girly holiday and silly night out photos & fancy dress parties we'd all been to over the years. She even sneakily downloaded a few from mine & my friends facebook page. Each page had a theme i.e when I was born, (baby pics), going to school (horrible but funny school pics), what my likes are (pics from things i've done like charity races etc), my friends (lovely group photos of me & the girls), and they were all in date order leading upto my birthday....with a blank page for more pictures. Its also nice if you can sneak in some memorabilia (vodka labels, little sporty stickers etc) or messages from friends in the page! All of you write your funniest/earliest memory. http://www.vistaprint.co.uk/top-photobooks.aspx?ad=exact&mk=photobooks&GP=1%2f20%2f2011+7%3a23%3a39+AM&GPS=1442536578&GNF=0 these guys do one where you can uploa the pictures and design the book yourself but most places do them including jessops, boots, klick and even the superbmarkets.0
