Is this Tablet any good?

RWSmmith

Hi all
I'm looking for some advice; my daughter has her heart set on a tablet, for web browsing, games, films and social networking, etc. She has seen this one listed below on sale, could you please advice if this a good deal for £150? We were looking for something that she could maybe do her homework on as well. Any held would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advice
Rob

With our M88, 7" Google Android Tablet PC, we bring you a breath of fresh air. Striking good looks with the usual features that the Google Android Operating System installs as standard. The blistering pace offered by the Telechips 8902 processor and a dedicated 3d graphics engine means games glide fluidly across the responsive touchscreen.
Our M88 tablet PC is not quite an iPad killer but, at a quarter of the price, it wins hands down in the value for money stakes. Not only does it play MP3 music, it sports true high definition video output (1080P). Together with built in WiFi , it's THE entertainment device for the person on the move. Surf the web, watch movies, work on the built in office applications (compatible with Word, Excel and Powerpoint), send and recieve email. You will begin to ask yourself why you even need a computer anymore. This is the another of our tablet PCs to allow the playing of 3D games - a wonderful addition to the stable !

I'd personally avoid it, because there don't seem to be any reviews out there covering it.

So you won't know that it's slow and buggy until you've bought it. Of course, it might not be slow and buggy, but it's a risk. The touchscreen also appears to be an older technology than used in the latest generation.

The other factor (for me) is that it seems to be made in China by an unheard of maker. Generally, if you buy this sort of gear, you should expect no support or s/w updates from the manufacturer.

pope_acute

perfect for what she is wanting to do.

you WILL need to get a memory card for it but they are so cheap now that's not really an issue.

remember its not windows, it is googles own operating system android. But its ok and getting better all the time.

the touch screen isn't the best, no way hear as smooth at strolling as the ipad/phone

Everything else about is good though for that money.

I wouldn't say "everything" is good like pope_acute.

The battery is quoted as 5 to 6 hours on standby!
